Early Quakerism: Virtual Workshop Series 2020
10:00AM - 12:00PM (Eastern Time)
How was Early Quakerism shaped by the society, the laws and the people?
Today Quakerism has a unique structure that arose out of the early days of Quakerism. Parts of Quakerism like Meeting for Suffering and Clearness Committees arose out of the conflicts that occurred between Quakers and the overall society. Learn about the arguments between early Quakers and the Puritans, the laws that were passed against Quakers and their effect, and the major people who shaped the early Quaker organization.
Karen Tibbals holds a Masters Degree in Quaker History from Earlham School of Religion, and the author of the new book, Persuade, Don't Preach: Restoring Civility Across the Political Divide.
