Come experiment with ways of experiencing joy and awe! Joy is sacred! Embrace joy during this weekend of exploration and experimentation. Connecting to a deep well of joy empowers us to meet adversity, darkness, and chaos without losing hope. Joy roots our actions in humanity and love. Living with joy, wonder, and awe in challenging times is a creative, enlivening, spiritual act and forms the basis for hope and action. We will explore experiences of awe, the ministry of smiling, gratitude, and blessing, as well as obstacles to joy that we encounter and the necessary prerequisites -- lamentation & grief. Join us as we open ourselves to the ministry of wonder, awe, and joy. Join us in seeking, experiencing, and sharing joy in our daily lives.
Our facilitator, Ed Seliger, lives in New Paltz, New York and is active in his monthly, quarterly, and yearly meeting and in Friends General Conference. He is an experienced retreat leader and elder and has led retreats on vocal ministry and on finding wonder, awe, and joy in challenging times. He carries a ministry of the importance of embracing joy wholeheartedly in order to manifest the full power of our experiential faith. Tested by adversity, Ed has learned joy through his experiences with nature, worship, and community. These experiences have created the commitment to share joy as a spiritual practice that enables us to fully live out how we are called to be in the world.
