Pastoral Care and Care Teams: Virtual Workshop Series 2020

2:00PM - 4:00PM

Being a Quaker is about more than attending Meeting for Worship. The way we care for each other is one way we live out many of our testimonies and helps us nurture the trusting relationships we need to sustain our Quaker practice - now more than ever. In this workshop we’ll consider how we offer and receive care in our meetings with a special focus on the opportunities and challenges of how we do this while we keep a faithful and loving physical distance from one another. We’ll make time for considering care teams and the most relevant concerns of the moment (since things continue to change moment to moment).

Callie Janoff is the Director of NYYM’s ARCH program which serves older Friends in the NYYM area, and our meetings as we all grow older with grace. Callie has been facilitating workshops, retreats, and trainings on aging concerns, pastoral care, end of life, and building community among Friends since 2015, and using digital platforms for this since 2018. She belongs to Brooklyn Monthly Meeting in New York City. These days she is grateful for the health to continue to hula-hoop in her front areaway, bake bread, read up on pruning techniques, and to serve NYYM from her home office.
