Continuing Revelation: A Quaker Model for Living Joyfully in Turbulent Times

Registration is closed for this event
10:00AM - 4:00PM (Eastern Time) Virtual Workshop

In this workshop, we will explore an evolving model of continuing revelation for individual Friends and Quaker communities joyfully living into change in turbulent times. In these challenging times, Spirit invites us into individual and collective transformation through sensing the more/what is missing; deep listening; openings; clear seeing and re-envisioning; living into the new; and evaluating what more is needed.  Based in motions of love, resilience, accountability and mutual support, continuing revelation is grounded in the eternal source of life and energy. Today, we as Quakers are being asked to do the internal work (individually and within our communities) of unravelling patterns of domination, systemic racism and extractive capitalism that we participate in and/or are impacted by. During the retreat, we will consider a spiral model of continuing revelation to help guide us on our evolving journey. This model offers us a new thing, a path through the wilderness into a renewed world.

Saturday Morning: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Saturday Afternoon: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Facilitators Lu Harper (Rochester) and Anne Pomeroy (New Paltz) collaborate under the auspices of NYYM’s Spiritual Nurture Working Group offering workshops, retreats and opportunities for Friends in a variety of settings. We carry a concern for the spiritual condition of Friends. We have a practice of spiritual accompaniment, listening to the condition of individuals and collective bodies of Friends.
